ABOUT

Welcome to Synth Mania, a web site dedicated mainly to synthesizers, but also keyboards, pianos, organs, drum-machines and electronic sound-making devices in general.  Here you will find information on several models that I own/have owned in the past, I’m familiar with, or simply have specs/data about.

“Who the hell cares whether you can sync the LFO to your blender, what’s the electric piano like?” – Julian Colbeck  (in “Love the one you’ve bought”, article in Keyboard magazine, August 1996)

Sound – above modulation routings, sys-ex capabilities, or digital I/Os – is what I love about synths.  Not that those and other features aren’t important, quite the contrary; it’s just that if a synth doesn’t sound interesting to us, no matter how many technical attributes, we are not going to use it too often.  And that’s why everyone loves the sound of a good old analog synthesizer, even if it doesn’t have MIDI or a dynamic keyboard: a full, warm sound.

This project was born with the intent of sharing my decades-long knowledge and passion for synthesizers with all music lovers, beginners and experts, with an emphasis on the myriad of sonic possibilities that every instrument possesses.  All throughout this site you’ll find audio and video examples of the instruments described, to make this a true multimedia experience.

Furthermore, this site can be used as a source of information for people interested in buying used one of the models described in my reviews, or for beginners to get familiar with the sonic characteristics differentiating various models.

Thank you for reading and I hope you will enjoy the website.

TL;DR: I like synths.
